Course Description

Is your child ready to get their hands dirty? Join this weekly class geared towards students in Kinder to 9th grade. In this class, kids will learn to use a wide variety of materials and techniques as they channel their creativity into hands-on projects. Art Club brings creativity and artistic challenges to students in Kinder to 9th grade. Participants will explore various materials and techniques, learn about different artists, and explore interesting themes through guided lessons and activities. This class is designed to improve fine motor skills, teach independence, build confidence, and help students make new friends as they develop a love of art. All of our classes are taught by long-time arts educators.

This class takes place at the Tokyo American Club.

Materials and activities include:

  • Water color, tempera, acrylic, glue, scissors, crayons, color pencils
  • Learn about important artists including Yayoi Kusama, Paul Klee, Hundertwasser, Kandinsky, Thiebaud, Monet, and more
  • Technique development in watercolor resist, glue resist, Paper Mâche, blending, and weaving
  • Explore various themes including yarn monsters, fairy-tale portraits, pop art, prehistoric art, and forest animals
